Varna is 15 km away from Golden Sands Resort. The town offers opportunities for entertainment, cultural events, shopping and walks around the Sea Garden Park or along the beach lane. It is worth visiting the Aquarium which is over 100 years old, the Dolphinarium, the first Observatory in Bulgaria and the Archeological Museum- famous for its exhibition of the oldest ancient gold in the world.
Aladzha Monastery is situated in a beautiful area 14 km to the north of Varna near Golden Sands Resort. Aladzha Monastery is one of the few rock-hewn monasteries in Bulgaria in which you can clearly see separate rooms set for different purposes. They were carved in two levels of almost 40 meters high limestone rock.
Balchik is 30 km away from Golden Sands. There you can see Balchik Palace – an architectural park complex – consisting of villas built in 1924 – 1934 as a summer residence for Queen Maria Edinburgh of Romania. The complex includes a beautiful botanic garden overlooking the sea.
Kaliakra Cape is a natural and archeological reserve revealing a breathtaking view of the sea. The cape stretches 2 km into the sea and is similar to a peninsula. The coast is cliff lined and the vertical cliffs rise 70 meters above the sea.
